WEIGHT CALCULATION
EQUATIONS EXAMPLE

1. Determine Longitudinal Bar Weight

  Weight = area of steel (sq.in.) x number of wires x length (ft.) x 3.4

  WeightL = C x [ ( F/A ) + 1] x I x 3.4 lbs / ft-in2   WeightL = 0.147in2 x [ ( 72in / 4in ) + 1] x 20.167 ft x 3.4 lbs / ft-in2

  Note: I is in feet.   WeightL = 191.51 lbs

2. Determine Cross Bar Weight

  Weight = area of steel (sq.in.) x number of wires x length (ft.) x 3.4

  WeightC = D x [ ( (I - J - K)/B ) + 1] x [(F+G+H)/12] x 3.4 lbs / ft-in2 WeightC = 0.205 in2 x [ ( ( 242in - 8in - 18in ) / 8in ) + 1]
    x [( 72in + 4in + 21in ) / 12] x 3.4 lbs / ft-in2
  Note: I is in inches.   WeightC = 157.75 lbs

3. Determine Sheet Weight

  Weigth per sheet = WeightL + WeightC   Weigth per sheet = 191.51 lbs + 157.75 lbs

    Weigth per sheet = 349.26 lbs
4. Determine Sheet Area (ft2)

  Sheet Area (ft2) = I x [( F + G + H ) / 12]   Sheet Area (ft2) = 20.167 ft x [( 72 in + 4in + 21in ) / 12]

  Note: I is in feet.   Sheet Area = 163.01 (ft2)

5. Weight per 100 Square Feet

  Weight per 100 sq. ft.    =  (Weight per sheet x 100 ) / Sheet Area Weight per csf     =  (349.26 lbs x 100 ) / 163.01 (ft2)

    Weight per csf     =  214.25 lbs / cfs
