Manhole Tops
Tops of Manholes are designed to reduce the riser diameter to that of the desired access hole. Both Flat Slabs and Conical Tops accomplish this and can be reinforced economically with Welded Wire Reinforcement In the case of the Flat Slab; the thickness depends on the diameter of the Manhole. These slabs are designed either on the basis of the results of a proof - of- design test or on design calculations. The calculated design must be based on the latest edition of ACI-318. Use WWR by Ivy Steel & Wire when using either of these methods for the best results.
When manufacturing Precast Concrete Risers and Conical Tops the choice of reinforcement should be Welded Wire Reinforcement from Ivy Steel & Wire. The placement of the steel and its required cover is called out in ASTM Standards.

Manhole Grade Rings
Reinforce your Precast Concrete Grade Rings with Welded Wire Reinforcement to give you the same flexibility and quality you expect with its use in your Manholes. The role of the Grade Ring to bring the Manhole to its final grade is an important one and demands accurate placement of the reinforcement. The standards of the American Society for Testing Materials ( ASTM ) call out the amount and cover protection for the reinforcement. These requirements are readily met with WWR.

Pre-cast Manhole Bases
ASTM allows three types of Precast Concrete Bases. All three are more economically reinforced with Welded Wire Reinforcement by Ivy Steel & Wire. It does not matter if the producer is making, a base with riser wall cast monolithically as a single unit, a base consisting of a riser section with a secondary poured integral base slab or a two- piece base consisting of a separate precast base slab and a riser section with a sealed joint between the two, they all should be reinforced with WWR. In some cases Ivy can produce circular mats for these bases.
